Babe Ruth: Astros pound Padres Tuesday in Brewton

Being on the wrong end of a doubleheader sweep to the Brewton Astros Tuesday in Brewton, the Brewton Padres saw themselves fall from second place to third place in the league standings.
The Astros defeated the Padres 11-0 in game one and 12-3 in game two to improve to 8-2 this season and remain in first place while the Padres dropped to 5-5 and into third place behind the 6-4 Braves. The Phillies are in fourth place with a 1-9 record.

Astros 11, Padres 0
The Astros held the Padres to only three hits and no runs while pounding out 11 runs of their own to claim an 11-0 win Tuesday in game one.
The Astros scored one run each in the first and second innings and added three runs each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to get the win.
Michael Williams swung a hot bat in the win for the Astros as he had a double and a homerun and three RBIs.
Derrick Barton had single in the win for the Astros and Tyler Joyner added an RBI while Tim McDonald had a double and a single.
Jones Manning added a single and one RBI and Taylor Elliott had a double and a single and two RBIs.
Dylan Etheridge had a single and one RBI and Tyler Reid had two RBIs for the Astros. Lane Clark rounded out the Astros hitters with a single.
McDonald earned the win on the mound.
For the Padres, Rob Jones, Lane Chavers and Jonathan Lucas all had singles in the loss.
On the mound, Justin Sessions was the pitcher of record.

Astros 12, Padres 3
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Astros scored nine unanswered runs to get a 12-3 win and sweep the Padres.
Both teams were tied a 3-all after the first inning before the Astros used an eight-run third inning and added one more in the fifth to get the win by nine.
For the Padres, Rob Jones had a single along with Sessions and Chavers. Chris Jones had a three-run homerun in the first inning.
Chavers took the loss on the mound as he went three innings in relief of starter Colton Morris.
For the Astros, Joyner had a single and a double and Williams added four singles and four RBIs.
McDonald had two singles and Manning added an RBI while Elliott had a single and one RBI.
Etheridge had a single in the win and Dakota Graves had a single and a triple and three RBIs.
Joyner earned the win on the mound and was joined by Stokes Jennings and Elliott who also saw time on the mound in the win.
