Brewton 8U stays alive in Evergreen while EB is eliminated

In the 8U Cal Ripken baseball tournament in Evergreen, the Brewton All-Stars stayed alive Monday night with a 4-0 win over Covington County.
Brewton began the tournament Friday with a 16-0 loss to Opp but won a losers bracket game against Evergreen Saturday by a score of 6-3.
With the win Monday, Brewton was scheduled to play Andalusia Tuesday in an elimination game.
If Brewton won Tuesday, they were scheduled to play the Castleberry and Opp loser for the right to advance to the championship game.
In their first game Thursday, East Brewton lost to Castleberry 8-7 and was scheduled to play Monday at 8 p.m. East Brewton was reported to have lost Monday night to be eliminated from the tournament, but as of press time, no stats were reported from either games.

Opp 16, Brewton 0
In their first game Friday, Opp scored early and often to send Brewton into the losers bracket with a 16-0 win.
Opp held Brewton scoreless while scoring five runs of their own in the first inning, eight in the second and three more in the fourth inning to get the win.
At the plate for Brewton, David Peace and Peyton Rowell each had a hit.

Brewton 6, Evergreen 3
Facing elimination, Brewton doubled up Evergreen 6-3 to live another day in the tournament.
Brewton scored two runs in the fourth inning and four in the fifth while holding Evergreen to one in the second and two in the fourth.
At the plate for the Brewton All-Stars, Peace had a hit and scored a run while Ed Dolihite had three hits, scored two runs and had one RBI.
Trent Cooper added one hit and an RBI along with Cole Kelley and Bracken Pettis.
Kobe Curry added a hit and scored a run in the win and Kannan Carter had a hit.
Clay Kirkland had a hit, one RBI and scored a run.

Brewton 4, Covington County 0
Brewton scored all four of their runs in the third inning and held Covington County scoreless as they staved off elimination with a 4-0 win.
Peace had a hit while Dolhite scored one run. Cooper scored a run and had one RBI while Curry and Pettis scored one run each. Pettis added an RBI in the win.
Carter added one RBI for Brewton.
