Emergency Management Agency personnel are keeping an eye south during the next few days, hoping the Gulf Coast region will be spared from hurricane winds and rain.

On Thursday, the National Hurricane Center continued their watch over an area of low pressure in the south central Gulf of Mexico.

NHC officials say this system has a medium chance of further development as it moves to the north toward the central Gulf Coast. As of Thursday afternoon, small craft advisories were alredy in effect along the western shores of Florida. No other watches or warning associated with the storm have been issued.

Coastal outlooks for the upcoming weekend are showing predictions of seas ranging from 2 to 4 feet Thursday and Friday with a light to moderate chop all the way to rough conditions and seas at 5 to 7 feet by Sunday and Sunday night.
