A Castleberry woman was killed Sunday when her vehicle collided with an 18-wheeler on Alabama 41.

Johnetta LaShannon Rudolph, 26, of Castleberry was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash reported near the 13-mile marker on Alabama 41, according to reports from the Evergreen office of the Alabama State Troopers. Troopers responded to the call just after 2 a.m.

Troopers say the crash occurred just after 2 a.m. Saturday when Rudolph’s 2000 Malibu collided with a 1995 International truck driven by Thomas Eugene Powell, 67, of East Brewton. Powell was not injured in the crash, troopers said.

Trooper Todd Hanks responded to the scene of the crash. Officials say Rudolph was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident. A traffic homicide investigation is underway in the case.
