Brewton Babe Ruth 15s currently 1-1 in district tourney

The Brewton Babe Ruth 15-year-old all-star team kicked off their district tournament Friday night in Atmore and suffered a 3-2 loss to the host team Atmore all-stars.
After falling in game one Friday, Brewton rebounded in their second game Sunday night as they cruised their way to a 17-1 win over Evergreen.
Brewton, 1-1 in tournament play, was set to play Atmore Monday night at 6 p.m. in the championship game. Brewton would need to win twice to claim the title. If Brewton won the first game Monday, a second game was scheduled to be played at 8 p.m.

Atmore 3, Brewton 2
In a pitcher’s duel Friday night between Brewton and Atmore, the Brewton 15s were edged out by one, 3-2.
Brewton was held to only three hits in the loss while Atmore had five.
Atmore led Brewton 2-0 after the first inning and 3-0 after three innings after Atmore plated one run in the bottom of the third.
Brewton would cut the lead to one in the top of the fourth as they scored two runs, but that would be as close as they would get.
Tyler Joyner had a single in the loss for Brewton while Michael Williams added two singles.
On the mound for Brewton, Joyner took the loss as he went six innings and allowed five hits, three runs, walked two and struck out eight.
Brewton struck out 11 times in the loss.
Tanner Smith earned the win on the mound for Atmore as he went seven innings and allowed three hits, two runs, walked six and hit one.
At the plate for Atmore, Barron McDonald, Trey Weeks, Nate Smith, Tyler Peebles, and Chasin Freeman all had singles.

Brewton 17, Evergreen 1
In their second game of the tournament Sunday in Atmore, Brewton used a 12-run third inning to cruise their way to a 16-run win over Evergreen, 17-1.
Brewton and Evergreen were tied 1-1 after the first inning before Brewton scored 16 runs over the second, third and fourth innings to get the win.
Brewton scored two runs in the second, 12 in the third and two more in the fourth to propel them to the win.
Williams, Hunter Harp and Todd Mayo pitched in the win for Brewton. Williams went the first inning to get the win while Harp went the next two innings and Mayo went the final two innings. Combined, the trio allowed one run on one hit, walked six and struck out five.
At the plate for Brewton, Robin Swift led in the win as he had two singles and a homerun and five RBIs.
Miles Powell had a triple while Joyner added a single.
Harp had a single in the win while Mayo had a single and a double and one RBI.
Chris Jones had a single and a double and two RBIs while Keaton Parker had a single.
Rob Jones added three singles and two RBIs while Dylan Etheridge had a single and two RBIs.
