The East Brewton 12U Cal Ripken baseball all-stars took the state runner-up Tuesday afternoon in Demopolis.
East Brewton led Demopolis 1-0 late in the game before falling to two runs to take the loss by one in the championship game.
Despite the loss, East Brewton has the option to advance to the regional tournament as the second place team.
In the tournament, East Brewton began play with an 11-1 win over Linden before losing to Demopolis 10-3 to fall to 1-1 in pool play.
In their third game, East Brewton defeated Butler 4-0 but lost to Sweet Water 3-0 in their final game of pool play.
In the single elimination tournament, East Brewton’s game was rained out Monday night but they earned a 9-6 win over Sweet Water Tuesday morning in the semifinals to advance to the state championship game against Demopolis.
