Marijuana found, man arrested

A Brewton man was arrested at his Ridge Road home just after noon Monday on at least two charges involving marijuana found growing near his home.

Collins Johnson Jr., of 2163 Ridge Road, was arrested on possession and manufacturing charges stemming from the discovery of at least two marijuana plants found growing on the property behind his home.

Two Escambia County deputies made the arrest and confiscated the plants Monday afternoon.

Deputy Jerame Conn said the suspect indicated he had been growing marijuana for personal use ‘since Vietnam.’

Specific information regarding charges were not immediately available Monday afternoon. No other details on Johnson’s arrest or bond were available.
