Brewton 12U softball to play at regionals Wednesday

The recently crowned state champion Brewton 12U softball team will begin their regional tournament Wednesday in North Carolina. The tournament will be played in Winterville in Pitt County.
Brewton will be one of nine teams at the tournament and the only team from Alabama. Joining Brewton will be five teams from North Carolina—Washington, Down East, Pitt County, Davidson and Kinston/Lenoir; one team from Florida—Winter Park; and two teams from Virginia—Albemarle and Rockville.
The tournament will be played with three pools of three teams. Brewton, Down East and Washington will play in the North Division bracket while Pitt County, Winter Park and Albemarle will play in the Central Division bracket. In the South Division bracket will be Kinston/Lenoir, Davidson and Rockville.
Brewton will begin play in the tournament at 3 p.m. Wednesday when they take on Down East. Brewton’s second game Wednesday will be played at 7 p.m. against Washington.
The three teams will meet again Thursday as Brewton will take on Down East at 9 a.m. and will play Washington at 3 p.m.
A double elimination tournament will begin Friday with the top six teams advancing to the next round.
Games will begin Friday at 9 a.m. and will be played at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Games will resume on Saturday and will be played at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 3 p.m., 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. The championship game will be played Sunday at 11 a.m. with an “if necessary” game set to be played afterwards if needed.
