Vivian Maxine Nicholson Boswell

Ms. Vivian Maxine Nicholson Boswell, 52, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, in Forestville, Md. She received her education at Piney Grove School  and Southern Normal High School. She was a 1972 graduate of Stillman College, receiving her bachelor of arts degree. She was a correctional officer for the Department of Corrections in Washington, D.C. She received the Award of Excellence 9 to 5 Working Women’s award in 1997, the Lifetime Achievement  award for 9 to 5 Working Woman 2002 and Men’s NAACP  Women’s World Peace Family Award. She was a member of Working Women’s Association, American Association of Retired Persons, The Harriet Tubman Association and the Democrat Baptist Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, Deacon and Mrs. Nathaniel Nicholson Sr. and Sis. Nettie Jackson.
She is survived by five brothers, Nathaniel (Betty) Nicholson Jr., Randy (Tonya) Nicholson of Brewton, Darryl Nicholson of Mobile, Christopher (Viembre) Nicholson, Jackie Nicholson of Frankfort, Ken., and many other family members and friends, including Connie Holmes Summers and Sara Gholston..
Funeral services were held Aug. 11, at 2:30 p.m. at Greater Pine Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Straughn officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery with Presley-Fluker Funeral Home directing.
