Mrs. Ruella Massingill Jernigan, 82, of Kirkland Road, died Friday, August 24, 2012 at a local nursing home after an extended illness. She was a native and life-long resident of Brewton. She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Jernigan; a sister, Jewell Smith; and a granddaughter, Tafala Jernigan.

She is survived by two sons, Tommy (Sharon) Jernigan and Robert (Kathy) Jernigan, both of Brewton; two daughters, Mary (Jack) Cain and Pat Parker, both of Brewton; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 27, at 11 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Bryan Garrett and the Rev. Jack Fitts officiating. Burial followed at Zion Hill Cemetery Brewton, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
