D.W. McMillan Memorial Hospital is proud to announce a partnership with Encore Rehabilitation and the Andrews Institute for Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine that will increase sports medicine coverage for athletes in Brewton and the surrounding community.
“We are excited to have the teams from Encore and from the Andrews Institute join us as we continue to provide sports medicine coverage for Brewton and the surrounding communities,” said Chris Griffin, Administrator of DW McMillan Memorial Hospital. “Through Encore, the hospital has provided a certified athletic trainer to both T.R. Miller High School and W.S. Neal High School for several years. Now, through our additional partnership with the Andrews Institute, we are pleased to announce the ability to provide enhanced coverage.”
The most visible sign of this partnership will be the presence of an Andrews Institute orthopaedic physician and Encore certified athletic trainer on the sidelines of each T.R. Miller football game and W.S. Neal football game.
“Should there be a need for orthopaedic care during a Friday night game, the team physician and athletic trainer will be able to provide immediate treatment and determine the best course of long-term care,” said Paige Plash, co-founder of Encore Rehabilitation, Inc. “D.W. McMillan has done a great job of bringing together Encore and the Andrews Institute to provide best-in-class sports medicine coverage.”
Any orthopaedic treatment that is required will be provided at the Andrews Institute in Gulf Breeze, Fla., with all ensuing patient rehabilitation needs met by the Encore managed physical therapy department of D.W. McMillan Hospital.
“After the initial treatment at the Andrews Institute, patients will be able to pursue their rehabilitation here in Brewton,” Griffin said. “We are thrilled to help provide this benefit.”
“This is a great model that Chris and the D.W. McMillan team have put together,” said Chad Gilliland, COO of the Andrews Institute. “We appreciate the opportunity to work with both the hospital and Encore to treat the athlete in everyone and get folks back to pursuing their passion in the game of life.”
