The spotlight returned to the running back position last week, as several ball carriers enjoyed stellar performances, but no runner shined brighter than Berry’s Terrance Hollingsworth.

Hollingsworth logged 25 carries for 336 yards and scored four touchdowns in a 42-33 victory over Hubbertville. He scored on runs of 17, 25, 2 and 14 yards.

For his performance, Hollingsworth is this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association Offensive Player of the Week. Hollingsworth beat out two other finalists for the award — R.A. Hubbard running back John Owens and UMS-Wright running back Troy Dixon.

Owens ran for 297 yards and five touchdowns and threw a 38-yard TD pass on a halfback option as Hubbard won a 60-50 shootout with Phillips. Owens scored on runs of 1, 12, 79, 55 and 37 yards.

Dixon for 217 yards and four touchdowns and caught a TD pass in the 4A No. 6-ranked Bulldogs’ 49-42 victory at No. 3 Thomasville. Dixon scored on runs of 30, 4, 2 and 20 yards and caught a 3-yard TD pass from Gunner Roach.

Defensively, Vestavia Hills’ Stuart Jacobs is the ASWA Defense/Special Teams Player of the Week. The senior opened the game with an 80-yard kickoff return that set up the first score and later caught TD passes of 38 and 14 yards. Jacobs also scooped up a blocked field goal and returned it 80 yards for a score in a 45-20 victory over Huffman.

The Defense/Special Teams finalists are Boaz’s Tez Jacobs and Tallassee kicker Nic Mullins.

Jacobs tallied 12 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks and two QB hurries in a 48-8 victory over Columbia. Mullins kicked a 45-yard field goal on the final play to lift the Tigers to a 17-14 victory over Charles Henderson.

ASWA members from Andalusia, Anniston, Auburn, Birmingham, Brewton, Centre, Cullman, Decatur, Dothan, Florence, Fort Payne, Gadsden, Gardendale, Huntsville, Grove Hill, Mobile, Montgomery, Oneonta, Scottsboro and Tuscaloosa submitted nominations this week.

Other standout performances from this past weekend:

Devin Adams, Vigor: Threw for 287 yards and four touchdown passes in the Wolves’ 28-7 win over Williamson on Thursday. Adams threw TD passes of 21, 12 and 13 yards to Shaq Ward and 31 yards to Rodney Stafford.

Jon Wes Adcock, Woodland: Had touchdown passes of 18, 19 and 9 yards with the latter coming with 34 seconds as the Bobcats upset No. 1-ranked Fultondale 25-24. Adcock threw for 98 yards and rushed for 62 more on 10 carries.

Luke Bailey, Fairview: Completed 14-of-18 passes for 150 yards and 23-yard TD, while 21 times for 137 yards and another touchdown in a 21-14 loss to Guntersville.

Bryan Bell, Fairhope: Ran for 162 yards and two touchdowns as the Pirates remained unbeaten with a 41-28 win over Dothan. Bell scored on runs of 30 and 78 yards.

Deion Bonton, Brooks: Scored four touchdowns, including three in the second half as Brooks pulled away from Priceville for a 55-28 win. Bonton scored on runs of 62, 4, 1 and 29 yards.

Tyler Boyd, Russellville: Rushed for 194 yards and 2 TDs in 37-14 win against East Limestone.

Rodney Camp, Phillips: Threw four touchdown passes, ran for another and returned the opening kickoff for a score. He rushed 25 times for 134 yards, was 18 of 38 for 260 yards and TDs of 8, 12, 42 and 5 yards, and had 160 yards in kickoff returns including the 80 yarder for a TD.

Jordan Chunn, Madison County: Rushed for 204 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries to lead the 4A, No. 10 Tigers in a 56-13 win over Randolph. Chunn ripped off scoring runs of 21 and 38 yards. He also led the team with 13 tackles.

Conner Cramer, Alma Bryant: Accounted for all five of his team’s touchdowns in a 49-35 loss to Blount. Cramer threw for 214 yards and three touchdowns. He ran for 123 yards on 25 carries and scored on runs of 41 and 11.

Josh Crawford, Edgewood: Ran for 246 yards with touchdowns of 5, 41 and 84 yards in top-ranked Edgewood’s 68-42 win over No. 2 Glenwood. The Wildcats have a state-best 22-game winning streak since a 13-12 home loss to Glenwood in October 2010.

Zac Crocker, Cullman: Completed 17-of-20 passes for 298 yards and five touchdowns — three to Houston Turner, one to Keary Thomas (58 yards) and another to Drew Johnson (74 yards) — in a 42-14 victory over West Point.

Aaron Dillard, Hubbertville: Rushed 23 times for 233 yards and 3 touchdowns in Friday’s loss to Berry.

T.J. Fleeton, Daphne: Completed 15-of-26 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns as the Trojans rallied from a 38-16 deficit to top Foley 46-45 in OT. Fleeton threw TD passes of 15, 26 and 37 yards. He also scored on a 1-yard run and completed a two-point conversion pass.

Johnathan Ford, New Hope: Logged four carries for 176 yards with TD runs of 86 and 75 yards in a 42-0 win over Holly Pond. In the first half, he had three carries for 167 yards and the two touchdowns. He also intercepted a pass, returned a punt for 33 yards and was 3-for-4 on extra-point kicks with Commodores coach James Franklin in the crowd.

Jonathan Ford, Westbrook Christian: Passed for 316 yards and five touchdowns in a 39-34 loss to Ider.

Jason Futrell, Wilson: Entered the game in the second half with Wilson trailing 7-0 and finished with 90 yards and two scores, including the game-winner with 52 seconds to play as the Warriors beat Rogers 12-7. Futrell was playing with a sprained MCL.

Adam Gaddis, Bibb County: Gained 254 rushing yards and scored four touchdowns to lead Bibb County to a 59-13 victory over Oak Grove. Gaddis scored on runs of 76, 17, 61 and 66 yards.

Chris Graham, Autauga Academy: Scored five touchdowns in a 49-47 win at Fort Dale Academy. Had 11 carries for 185 yards and four touchdowns and returned a kickoff 75 yards for a score.

Ty Green, Cherokee County: Rushed for 175 yards on 23 carries and scored on TD runs of 10, 10 and 4 yards. He also caught two passes for 46 yards in the Warriors’ 42-35 loss to Jacksonville.

Samuel Grisham, Lauderdale County: Rushed for 199 yards on 26 carries from the QB position, producing touchdown runs of 12, 1 and 11 yards in a 35-21 victory over No. 4 Deshler.

Rodney Groce, Vincent: Gained 176 yards on nine carries in the 52-13 victory at Pleasant Valley. Groce’s total included a 65-yard touchdown run.

Kelby Hallmark, Tharptown: Rushed for 157 yards and passed for 117 as Tharptown won its second straight, 22-14 over Waterloo. Hallmark had a 31-yard TD pass and ran 6 yards for another.

Dakota Harwell, Hewitt-Trussville: Ran 28 times for 167 yards and three touchdowns in the 28-18 win over Woodlawn. Harwell scored on runs of 9, 7 and 7 yards, and grabbed two passes for 45 yards.

Mikey Howard, Woodland: Rushed for 163 yards and a 9-yard touchdown on 23 carries as the Bobcats upset No. 1-ranked Fultondale 25-24.

Tamerick Jenkins, T.R. Miller: Ran for 159 yards on 23 carries and three touchdowns in 62-6 victory over Excel.

Trey Kyles, Handley: Accounted for four touchdowns in a 48-18 win over Childersburg. Kyles finished with 12 carries for 144 yards and 3-for-7 passing for 74 yards. He had runs of 25 and 65 yards and scoring passes of 19 and 30 yards.

Chris Manning, Section: Caught seven passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns (25, 58 yards) and also had 75 yards in punt and kickoff returns in Section’s 21-14 win over Gaston.

Julius McCall, Chelsea: Scored twice on runs of 1 and 80 yards while totaling 223 yards on 27 carries despite battling illness. The Hornets fell 37-23 to Spain Park.

Michael McCalman, Andalusia: Ran 20 times for 130 yards and TD runs of 44 and 3 yards and finished 9-of-14 passing for 160 yards and TDs of 33 and 17 yards in a 36-18 victory over Hillcrest-Evergreen.

Jeremy McMullen, Aliceville: Rushed for 249 yards on 24 carries and scored four touchdowns in a 42-14 win over Sulligent.

Levi Mintz, Cedar Bluff: Completed 9-of-17 passes for 243 yards and four touchdowns (34, 51, 44 and 75 yards) in the Tigers’ 62-21 victory over Coosa Christian.

Deonte Moore, Huntsville: Ran for 135 yards on 24 carries with five touchdowns in a 42-6 win over Lee. Moore scored on runs of 3, 1, 12, 1 and 1 yards.

Tyler Morgan, Spring Garden: Tallied 182 yards on 19 carries and scored three touchdowns (59, 1 and 58 yards) in the Panthers’ 40-22 victory over Valley Head.

Alex Morris, Ashford Academy: Rushed for 290 yards on 28 carries and five touchdowns in the Falcons’ 49-35 win over Evangel Christian.

Joel Poe, Spanish Fort: Completed 11-of-14 passes for 238 yards and four touchdowns as the Toros beat Gulf Shores 56-7. Poe hit Sam Harris on scores of 46, 28 and 5 yards and Ed on a 63-yard screen pass.

Jarrett Pope, Clarke Prep: Carried the ball 29 times for 213 yards and four TDs, added 8 tackles on defense in 50-3 win over No. 10-ranked Jackson Academy.

Cedrix Reed, Foley: Rushed for 270 yards and scored on runs of 7, 46, 8 and 61 yard in the Lions’ 46-45 OT loss to Daphne.

Earnest Robinson, Pinson Valley: Grabbed six passes for 163 yards, including a 40-yard touchdown reception, as the Indians fell 31-13 to Walker.

Jay Rogers, Bob Jones: Ran for 241 yards and four touchdowns in a 48-42 win over Florence.

Jake Sloan, Pleasant Grove: Rushed for three touchdowns and 75 yards to go with his 145 yards passing – 6 of 16 — as the Spartans beat Parker 42-21. Sloan ran for touchdowns of 1, 38 and 4 yards, and also found Aaron Williams for a 68-yard scoring pass.

Jason Smith, McGill-Toolen: Accounted for 199 yards of offense and two TDs in one half. He rushed for 81 yards on 3 carries and a TD and was 11-of-12 passing for 118 yards and a TD in a 62-9 over Theodore.

Ty Sparks, Randolph County: Accounted for five passing touchdowns in the Tigers’ 49-28 win over LaFayette. Went 17-for-21 passing for 196 yards with scoring passes of 41, 25, 2, 4 and 5.

Joe Stassen, Bayside Academy: Ran for 200 yards on 21 carries and scored a touchdown in a 35-14 win over Opp.

Kanan Stalloworth, Beulah: Rushed for 221 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries in the Bobcats’ 41-14 victory over Dallas County.

Dominique Thomas, Jacksonville: Scored three touchdowns in a 42-35 win over Cherokee County. Thomas had 22 carries for 189 yards and three touchdowns. He also had five catches for 59 yards and a 13-yard score. His TD runs covered 34 and 58 yards.

Racean Thomas, Oxford: Had 255 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries in a 28-21 loss to Gadsden City. Thomas’ touchdown runs covered 75 and 20 yards. He also had an 83-yard touchdown run called back on a holding call.

C.J. Tolbert, Dadeville: Rushed for 168 yards and four touchdowns — all in the first half — in the Tigers’ 47-16 victory over Holtville.

Quinterris Toppings, Blount: Finished 9-of-13 for 265 yards and five touchdowns in the Leopards’ 49-35 win over Bryant. Toppings’ TD passes went for 57, 44, 15 and 33 yards.

Tyler Vann, North Sand Mountain: Accounted for four touchdowns (two rushing, two passing) while passing for 148 yards and running for 118 more in Class 2A No. 10-ranked NSM’s 36-21 victory over previously unbeaten Sand Rock.

Zack Walker, G.W. Long: Rushed for 197 yards and three touchdowns, including a go-ahead 12-yarder with 9:08 to go, in a 27-24 win over Houston Academy.

Luke Wall, Hayden: Caught 9 passes for 187 yards, including touchdowns of 20 and 43 yards, in a 14-13 loss to Moody.

Corey Ward, Hayden: Completed 22 of 41 passes for 332 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in a 14-13 loss to Moody.

Kyle White, Macon-East: Had 289 yards rushing and scored six touchdowns in a 42-21 win at Hooper.

Blake Williams, Hale County: Rushed for 199 yards on 10 carries and scored four touchdowns in Hale County’s 41-21 victory over Cold Springs. Williams scored on runs of 9, 34, 39 and 25 yards.

Ronald Yarbrough, Sheffield: Carried four times for 154 yards, including TD runs of 51, 55 and 20 yards in 62-7 win against Phil Campbell.

LaDarius Young, Saks: Broke open a scoreless first half with three second-half touchdowns as the Wildcats went on to win 28-6 over Susan Moore. Young’s touchdowns covered 59, 79 and 3 yards, and he finished with 250 yards on 21 carries.

DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS
Rashad Carter, Gadsden City: Picked up a fumble and went 65 yards for the game-winning touchdown in the Titans’ 28-21 victory over No. 8 Oxford in the Times’ Game of the Week.

Matthew Collins, Ider: Finsihed with six tackles and two passes interceptions, setting up a field goal with one and returning the other 52 yards for a touchdown, in a 39-34 victory at Westbrook Christian. Collins, who also plays fullback, carried 25 times for 173 yards and touchdowns on 5 and 15 yards.

Dylan Cline, McAdory: Led the Yellow Jackets defense with 10 tackles, including two sacks, in the 41-7 win over Central-Tuscaloosa.

Cedric Cooks, John Essex: Had 18 tackles, 2 interceptions and a rushing TD.

Tyrone Cosby, Clay Central: Had a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown to break open what was then a tight game. Cosby also had 10 carries for 94 yards.

Cody Daughtry, Piedmont: Posted eight tackles and recorded a sack in the Bulldogs’ 49-7 victory over Glencoe.

Damien Davenport, McIntosh: Had 17 tackles and two sacks in a 32-12 victory over J.U. Blacksher.

Brady Edge, SMCA: Made 14 tackles and recovered a fumble in a 49-28 win over Eastwood. Also ran for 130 yards and a touchdown.

Reuben Foster, Auburn: Recorded eight tackles — three for a loss — rushed five times for 16 yards and two touchdowns and blocked two punts in the Tigers’ 48-7 win over Smiths Station.

Dontress Green, Mortimer Jordan: Recorded six tackles and recovered two fumbles in the Blue Devils’ 42-16 victory over Curry.

Exavyer Jackson, Piedmont: Posted a pair of sacks and had seven tackles from his nose tackle spot. He also scored on a 1-yard rushing touchdown in the Bulldogs’ 49-7 victory over Glencoe.

Rondaius Johnson, Spain Park: Returned an interception 75 yards for a touchdown that broke a 23-all tie in the 37-23 win over Chelsea.

Jamarcus June, Luverne: Returned a kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown, plus had two TD passes, in a 20-16 win at Highland Home.

Demetrius Kemp, Demopolis: Had a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, added a rushing TD, and tallied nine tackles.

Justin Lucas, Notasulga: Gained more than 150 all-purpose yards, scored three touchdowns and recorded 20 tackles in the Blue Devils’ 52-0 win over Verbena.

Nic Mullins, Tallassee: Kicked a 45-yard field goal on the final play to lift the Tigers to a 17-14 win at Charles Henderson.

Stephen Roberts, Opelika: Intercepted two passes and recorded eight tackles — six solo — in a 37-7 win over No. 10 Central. His second pick went for an 85-yard touchdown on the last play of the first half to give the Bulldogs a 30-0 lead.

Jesse Seals, Addison: Returned a 62-yard punt for a score and set up another one of the Bulldogs’ scoring drives with a 35-yard return later in the contest. He also booted six XPs.

Devante Snell, Clarke County: Had two interceptions and returned a fumble 70 yards for a touchdown also had seven tackles in 33-14 win over Monroe County.

Courtney Wilbanks, Restoration Academy: Recorded 10 tackles, including a sack to lead the defensive effort, while also running Ran for 138 yards and three touchdowns – 4, 68 and 7 yards — in the Bulldogs’ 42-20 win over Coosa Valley.
