The Greater Escambia Council for the Arts debuted their latest play from local writer Gene Embry Friday night and shows continued through the weekend with a matinee performance Sunday at 2 p.m.

“The Revival,” a play centered around the drama engrossing a church choir, is the latest play from Embry, who has also written former GECA offerings like the popular “A Cab Fare to Remember.”

GECA will also perform the play next weekend with shows Friday and Saturday nights at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Embry was also the author of “Peace in the Valley,” his first original screenplay in partnership with GECA. Both it and ‘Cab Fare’ were a hit with audiences and the latest Embry-GECA partnership is also drawing crowds.

Tickets for “The Revival” are still available and can be purchased from any GECA member or at the Atmore News office on South Main Street.
