EC volleyball tournament set for Saturday at JDCC

The 2012 Escambia County volleyball tournament will be held Saturday, Oct. 13 at Jefferson Davis Community College with Escambia County High School of Atmore being the host school.
The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger volleyball team will put their Escambia County volleyball seven-year win streak on the line as the tournament will kickoff at 9 a.m. in Brewton.
T.R. Miller has won the tournament every year since it began back in 2005.
T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will begin play at 9 a.m. and will be followed by Escambia County and Flomaton at 10:15 a.m.
T.R. Miller will then play Escambia County at 11:30 a.m. followed by Flomaton against W.S. Neal at 12:45 p.m.
At 2 p.m., Flomaton will play T.R. Miller and at 2 p.m., W.S. Neal and Escambia County will finish the tournament.
All matches in the tournament will be best two-of-three.
So far this season, T.R. Miller is 6-7 overall and W.S. Neal is 6-9. Both teams had games scheduled for Thursday.
T.R. Miller is 2-0 against Flomaton this season and is currently 1-1 against W.S. Neal.
T.R. Miller has no games scheduled with Escambia County this season except for the tournament.
W.S. Neal is 1-1 against Flomaton and 1-1 against T.R. Miller,
The Lady Eagles are 1-0 against Escambia County.
The Escambia County volleyball tournament began back in 2005 and every year since the tournament began, the T.R. Miller Lady Tiger volleyball has been crowned tournament champion.
The Lady Tigers won their seventh straight championship last year in East Brewton.
T.R. Miller defeated Escambia County 2-0 in their first game. In their second game last year, the Lady Tigers lost the first set of their second game to Flomaton 25-23. In the second set against the Lady Canes, T.R. Miller was down 14-3 and 15-6 and rallied to get a 25-23 win to even the match at 1-1.
In the third and deciding game, the Lady Tigers defeated Flomaton 15-9 to get the win.
In their final match against W.S. Neal, the Lady Tigers won 2-0 to get the championship.
Overall, T.R. Miller took first place in the tournament with a 3-0 record followed by Flomaton in second place with a 2-1 record and W.S. Neal in third place with a 1-2 record.
Escambia County placed fourth as they went winless at 0-3.
W.S. Neal lost to Flomaton 2-0 (25-12 and 25-23) last year in their first game. After Flomaton defeated Escambia County 2-0, T.R. Miller defeated Escambia County 2-0 (25-7 and 25-14). T.R. Miller defeated Flomaton 2-1 and W.S. Neal defeated Escambia County (25-16 and 25-23) before T.R. Miller ended the tournament with a 2-0 win over W.S. Neal 25-12 in both sets.
