It was senior night for W.S. Neal’s three seniors as they played their final home games for the Lady Eagles, but finished a winner as they took down Monroe County.
W.S. Neal defeated Monroe County 3-0 to improve to 6-9 overall in Kaitlin Hadaway, Gracee Dixon and Stephanie Lambert’s final home games.
The Lady Eagles defeated Monroe County 25-13, 25-22 and 27-25 in the three-game sweep to get the win.
“I am proud of the seniors that they were able to go out with a big win,” W.S. Neal head coach Jeff Haney said. “I think all three of them played well tonight. Gracee was nursing a sore ankle. It was a great win. We didn’t play like we were capable of. We slacked off a little bit but were able to gather it up and get things going back in the right direction. But overall, when we hit the ball, we play well. We hit the ball pretty well tonight. I was glad our seniors got to go out on that win. I thought Stephanie hit the ball well tonight and Kaitlin’s sets were good. Like I said, Gracee did a good job. She did not play much on the back row tonight because of her ankle. Her sets were pretty good tonight. They will be missed for sure.”
In set one, W.S. Neal led the who game and as much as 23-9 before claiming a 25-13 win.
Dixon led with eight service points and two aces. Lambert and Jodi Busby had three kills each in the win.
In set two, Hadaway led with three service points while Karissa Johnson, Jasmine Crook, Lambert, Busby and Tiffany Sawyer all had one kill each.
In the third set, both team were tied at 25-all before the Lady Eagles won the final two points of the game to win 27-25.
In the win, Lambert led with five kills while Hadaway led with four service points.
W.S. Neal was set to travel to Monroe County Thursday for their final road game and regular season game.
W.S. Neal will be back in action Saturday at 9 a.m. against T.R. Miller in the Escambia County Tournament. The tournament will be held at Jefferson Davis Community College in Brewton. The Lady Eagles will also play at 12:45 p.m. against Flomaton and at 3:15 p.m. against Escambia County in the final game of the four-team, six-game tournament.
