The Brewton Lions Club is making plans for its eighth annual Lions Club Car Show — an event that will make use of Jim Peach Motors’ facilities for the second time.
“Being at Peach Motors gives us a great place for the show,” said Glen Freeman, organizer and local car owner. “It’s easy to find, and they have gone out of their way to see that we have plenty of room for the show.”
The event will be held Saturday, Oct. 20, at Jim Peach Motors. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. and car registration is $25, which includes lunch. Awards will be given at 2:30 p.m. for the top 40 and 12 best of awards. Trophies will be awarded to the winners. There is also a 50/50 drawing that will be half of what is taken in fees. A ticket will be drawn and that ticket will get half of whatever is in the pot.
“Last year we had a young man who helped hand out the awards,” Freeman said. “Austin Brooks, whose mother, Samantha, works at Peach, handed out the awards and did a really good job and we want to acknowledge how much help he was. Austin is coming back this year to help us out again.”
Freeman said he expects a good turnout.
“We are expecting a big show,” he said. “I don’t know of anything else going on that weekend and hopefully the weather will be good. All the money collected at the event will go to a good cause, the Lions Club. And by the way, the Lions Club is looking for new members, If you think you might be interested, talk to one of those working there. They will have a table set up and will be selling food and drinks.”
