BMS Lady Tigers win by two, boys fall by one

In their final road game of the season Tuesday at McCall, the Brewton Middle School boys basketball team remained winless as they lost to the Wolves 27-26.
Brewton, now 0-5, led McCall 6-1 after the first quarter, but was outscored 9-4 in the second as both teams went into the halftime break with 10 points.
In the third, McCall once again held the Tigers of Brewton to four points while racking up seven of their own to take a 17-14 lead into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth, Brewton put on a furious rally as they outscored McCall 12-10 and cut the lead to one, but the Wolves would pull on the win 27-26 and keep Brewton winless this season.
Marcus Paul led the Tigers in the loss with 14 points while Jo Jo Booker and Joshua Jolly both had six points each.
Brewton will be off for 16 days for Thanksgiving break, but will be back in action Thursday, Nov. 29 with a home game against Lyeffion. Game time is set for 5 p.m. at Brewton Middle School. Following their home game against Lyeffion, BMS will have two more home games.

BMS girls 28, McCall 26
The Brewton Middle School Lady Tigers held off a late rally from McCall Tuesday on the road to come away with a 28-26 win.
The win for the Lady Tigers improved them to 4-1 this season.
Brewton trailed McCall 10-8 after one quarter, but rallied in the second quarter with an 8-5 advantage to hold a one-point lead at the half, 16-15.
In the third quarter, Brewton extended their lead to seven as they outscored McCall 8-2 in the quarter to lead 24-17 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, McCall ended the game on a 9-4 run to get within two points, but Brewton was able to hang on for the win.
Leading Brewton in the win was Brianna Dees with 10 points and Akilah Brazile followed with eight. Steely Ruzic chipped in five points while Destiny Watson had three points. Jovan Parker rounded out the Lady Tigers with two points.
