The AHSAA football playoffs are down to the Final Four teams in each classification this week as the winners will advance to next week’s Super Six at Auburn.
Semifinal winners will play for the state championship Dec. 6-7 at the Super Six.
Thursday games will include the 3A finals at 11 a.m. followed by the 1A game at 3 p.m. and the 5A game at 7 p.m.
Games will resume Friday with the 4A game set for 11 a.m. followed by the 2A game at 3 p.m. and the 6A game will conclude everything with a 7 p.m. start time.
Still alive in class 3A is Straughn, Fayette County, Lauderdale County and Madison Academy.
Straughn, a No. 4 seed, is the lone team from region one. The Tigers defeated Midfield—the team that defeated T.R. Miller— last week to earn a berth in the semifinals. Fayette County, who defeated W.S. Neal, is still alive. In class 2A, Sweet Water—a common opponent for T.R. Miller—is also still alive.
So far, class 3A’s region 8 has posted the best record as they had all four of their teams reach the quarterfinal round this past Friday. No. 1 seed Madison Academy will take on No. 2 seed Lauderdale County this week.
Fayette County is the No. 1 seed in region 3. Region 1 went 4-0 in round 1, 1-3 in round two and 1-0 in round three.
