The success of the W.S. Neal football team this year has caused a change to the 2012-2013 W.S. Neal Eagle basketball schedule.
The Eagle football team, who made it to the second round of the AHSAA playoffs this year and played until Nov. 16, forced the Eagle basketball team to cancel their first five games of the season.
W.S. Neal was set to begin their season Tuesday, Nov. 27 at home against Hillcrest, but will now see their season begin Thursday, Dec. 13 at home against Pleasant Home.
The original schedule for the boys team showed 18 games with nine home games and nine away games. For the Lady Eagles, W.S. Neal was to play 17 games with nine being home and eight on the road.
W.S. Neal has cancelled games with Hillcrest (Tuesday, Nov. 27), Mobile Christian (boys only game on Thursday, Nov. 29), Atmore (Saturday Dec. 1 and Friday, Dec. 7) and Hillcrest (Tuesday, Dec. 4), but the remainder of the schedule has stayed the same.
Both the W.S. Neal boys and girls will now play 13 games with seven being home and six being away.
The lone tournament for the W.S. Neal basketball girls and boys will be the Escambia County Tournament in December that will be held at Escambia County High School in Atmore.
W.S. Neal’s area opponents for the 2012-2013 season will be Cottage Hill, Bayside Academy and T.R. Miller.
All games are scheduled for a 4:30 p.m. tip minus the Eagles’ two games against Geneva.
