Hillcrest hoops sweep TRM teams Monday

All three T.R. Miller basketball teams remained winless in the young 2012-13 season Monday night at home as the Hillcrest Jaguars rolled into town and swept the Tiger teams.
The B-team Tigers fell to 0-2 with a 35-12 loss while the Lady Tigers fell to 0-5 with a 29-23 loss.
In varsity action Monday, the Tigers dropped to 0-2 with a 55-29 loss.

Hillcrest 35, TRM B-team 12
The T.R. Miller B-team suffered a 23-point home loss to Hillcrest Monday night to fall to 0-2 this season.
Hillcrest led 12-1 after the first quarter and 21-7 at the half. In the third quarter, Brewton was outscored 6-3 to fall behind 27-10 and was outscored 8-2 in the fourth quarter to take the loss.
Markail Mitchell led with six points, Chardian Johnson had four points and Austin Holmes had two.
T.R. Miller was 8-for-19 from the free throw line while Hillcrest was 4-for-9.

Hillcrest 29, TRM Lady Tigers 23
With the game tied 19-19 after three quarters, T.R. Miller’s Lady Tigers were outscored 10-4 in the fourth as they lost to Hillcrest 29-23.
T.R. Miller led the Lady Jaguars 12-8 after one quarter, but saw Hillcrest rally in the second tie the game at 16-all at the half.
In the third quarter, both teams scored three points each as they went into the fourth tied at 19. In the fourth, Hillcrest pulled away for the win.
Lateysia Montgomery led with eight points while Sha Nicholson added six. Tempest Thompson chipped in five points and Emonea Curry added two points along with O’Nesha Hall.
The Lady Tigers were 3-for-16 from the free throw line while Hillcrest was 6-for-22.

Hillcrest 55, TRM varsity 29
The Hillcrest Jaguars started the game on a 7-0 run and added a 15-0 run in the first quarter to lead T.R. Miller’s varsity early and often as they cruised to a 26-point win over the Tigers Monday night 55-29.
Hillcrest led T.R. Miller 22-2 after one quarter and 36-14 at the half.
In the third quarter, Hillcrest outscored T.R. Miller 14-10 in the third quarter to extend their lead to 50-24.
In the fourth quarter, both teams ended the game with five points each in the fourth quarter as Hillcrest took the win.
Trey Walker led the Tigers with 12 points and David Barragan and Kellyn Winn both had five points each. Caden Lodge had three points in the loss while Terry Samuel had two and Jalen Jones and Caleb Hubbard had one point each.
T.R. Miller shot 10-for-22 from the free throw line while the Jaguars were 12-for-23.
