Two T.R. Miller basketball teams picked up their first wins of the season Tuesday at home against Flomaton while one stayed winless this season.
The T.R. Miller Tiger B-team picked up their first win of the season and improved to 1-2 after they defeated the Hurricanes 31-16.
The T.R. Miller varsity Tigers also picked up their first win of the season Tuesday against Flomaton as they pulled off a 50-43 win to improve to 1-2 this year.
The T.R. Miller Lady Tigers remained winless after they fell to 0-6 with a 51-16 loss.
All three teams will be back in action at home Friday night when they take on rival W.S. Neal.
Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. with the B-teams playing first followed by the girls and then the varsity boys.
The game is the first area game of the season for both teams and will be just the second game of the season for the Eagles of East Brewton after they are scheduled to begin their season Thursday at home against Pleasant Home.
T.R. Miller and W.S. Neal will both be back in action again Friday when they take part in the 2012 Escambia County Tournament in Atmore.

TRM B-team 31, Flomaton 16
A 9-0 run in the second quarter and an 8-0 run to end the game keyed the first win of the season for the T.R. Miller Tiger B-team as they defeated the Flomaton Hurricanes by 15 points, 31-16.
T.R. Miller led Flomaton 8-5 after one quarter of play and went on a 9-0 run in the second to grab a 17-5 lead with 1:40 left in the half. The Tigers would go on and outscore Flomaton 11-2 in the quarter to hold a 12-point lead at the half, 19-7.
In the third quarter, both teams struggled on the offensive side of the ball as only a total of nine points was scored with Flomaton hold a 5-4 advantage over the Tigers to cut T.R. Miller’s lead to 23-12 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, Flomaton was able to get as close as seven points of the Tigers’ lead as they cut the lead to 23-16 with 3:43 left in the game.
From that point one, T.R. Miller ended the game on an 8-0 run to get the win by 15.
Marcus Paul led the Tigers with nine points and Tamerick Jenkins followed with eight points.
Austin Holmes added six points and Markail Mitchell followed with four points.
Carlos Thomas and Alex Daugherty finished with two points each in the win.
T.R. Miller was 5-for-17 from the free throw line in the win over the Hurricanes while Flomaton shot 1-for-4.

Flomaton 51, TRM Lady Tigers 16
The Flomaton Lady Hurricanes jumped on the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers early and often Tuesday night in Brewton as they blew their way to a 31-point win to keep the Lady Tigers winless this season.
After Flomaton jumped out to a 4-0 lead and a 6-2 lead, T.R. Miller cut the lead to 7-5 with 4:28 left in the first quarter.
That would be as close as the Lady Tigers would get the rest of the night as Flomaton used a 9-0 run in the quarter to take a 16-5 lead with 1:31 left in the quarter.
Flomaton would go on and outscore T.R. Miller 18-7 in the first quarter and 9-7 in the second to hold a 13-point lead over the Lady Tigers at the half, 27-14.
In the third quarter, if the Lady Tigers had any chance of a comeback, they were extinguished early. With Flomaton leading 31-16 over the Lady Tigers with 5:50 left in the quarter, the Lady Hurricanes went on a 20-0 run to end the quarter with a 51-16 lead heading into the fourth. Flomaton would end up outscoring the Lady Tigers 24-2 in the quarter.
In the fourth, the Lady Hurricanes extended their run to 22-0 to take a 53-16 lead with 6:55 left in the game. T.R. Miller would end the run with 6:33 left in the game, but Flomaton would end up outscoring the Lady Tigers 8-4 in the fourth quarter to get the win by 31.
Sha Nicholson led the Lady Tigers with eight points in the loss while Lateysia Montgomery finished with six points.
Destiny Watson added four points while Shayn Bradley and O’Nesha Hall both had three points each.
T.R. Miller shot 2-for-5 from the free throw line while Flomaton was 8-for-12.

TRM varsity 50, Flomaton 43
Chardian Johnson poured in 21 points, with 14 coming in the first quarter to lead T.R. Miller and first-year head coach Juan Johnson to their first win of the season Tuesday after defeating Flomaton 50-43.
“I think we played well at times tonight,” Johnson said after the win. “Obviously it is not all correct. We have a fairly young team. Out of 10 players, seven are sophomores. I am proud of them winning the game. There is no doubt about that. Overall, we just have to improve as the year goes on. We did some things well in the game. We just have to do it again Friday night (against W.S. Neal).”
As for Chardian Johnson’s 21 points, coach Johnson said he knew he had it in him to score that many points.
“By all means, for him to come in as a freshman and play in his first varsity basketball game and score 21 points,” Juan said. “I mean, no one thought he could do that, I’m sure. I’m sure he let it loose and just went out there and played. I am proud of the kid.”
The Tigers of T.R. Miller led Flomaton 19-15 after one quarter of play, thanks to an 8-0 run in the quarter after Flomaton led the Tigers 13-8 with 2:30 left in the quarter.
Johnson scored T.R. Miller’s first 12 points of the game.
In the second quarter, Flomaton edged out T.R. Miller 8-7 to cut the lead to 26-23 heading into the half.
In the third quarter, Flomaton grabbed a 30-29 lead over T.R. Miller with 2:13 left to play after a 7-0 run.
T.R. Miller would end the quarter on a 5-0 run to take a 34-30 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, T.R. Miller increased their run to 9-0 to take a 38-30 lead with 5:48 left in the game.
Flomaton ended the game on a 13-12 run, but the Tigers were able to hang on and take their first win of the season by seven points.
Following Johnson’s 22 points, Trey Walker also finished in double figures with 13 points. Kellyn Winn added seven points and Caleb Hubbard added six. Caden Lodge finished with two points in the win and Jalen Jones had one point for the Tigers.
T.R. Miller shot 12-for-22 from the free throw line in the win while Flomaton was 7-for-15. The Tigers were 6-for-9 from the line in the final 1:20 after Flomaton resorted to fouling near the end of the game.
Johnson had three 3-pointers for the Tigers in the first 5:48 of the game.
