In their first real road game of the year Tuesday at Geneva, the W.S. Neal Lady Eagle and varsity Eagle basketball teams saw losses.
The Lady Eagles fell to 0-3 overall with a 58-42 loss while the varsity Eagles fell to 1-2 with a 79-39 loss. There was no B-team game Tuesday.
Both the Lady Eagles and varsity Eagles of W.S. Neal will play in the Escambia County Tournament Friday and Saturday at Escambia County High School in Atmore.
Following the county tournament games, all three Eagle teams will be back in action Friday, Jan. 4 when they take on Flomaton at home. Tip is 4:30 p.m.
The home game against Flomaton will be the first of a four-game home stand for the Eagles. During the four home games, W.S. Neal will also play against T.R. Miller, Cottage Hill and Bayside Academy.
The three games against T.R. Miller, Cottage Hill and Bayside Academy will be area games for the Eagles. All three games will begin at 4:30 p.m.
W.S. Neal’s girls are currently 0-1 in area play after falling to T.R. Miller Friday in Brewton. The varsity Eagles are 1-0 after taking down the Tigers Friday.

Geneva 58, WSN Lady Eagles 42
The W.S. Neal Lady Eagle basketball team remained winless this season as they dropped their third straight game to Geneva on the round Tuesday. The Lady Eagles lost by 16 points, 58-42.
In the loss for the Lady Eagles, it was the second and fourth quarters that propelled the Panthers of Geneva to the win.
Geneva led W.S. Neal 10-7 after one quarter of play before increasing their lead to 32-18 at the half following a 22-11 scoring advantage in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, the Lady Eagles rallied back to cut the lead to 40-34 heading into the fourth quarter after outscoring Geneva 16-8 in the quarter.
In the fourth, Geneva ended the game on an 18-8 run to put the game out of reach and claim the win by 16.
KeKe Floyd led W.S. Neal with 16 points and was 4-of-7 from the free throw line. Geneva’s Thompson finished with a game-high 37 points.

Geneva 79, WSN varsity boys 39
Coming off their first win of the season Friday night against rival T.R. Miller, the W.S. Neal varsity Eagles fell back in the loss column Tuesday night in Geneva as they suffered a 40-point loss by a score of 79-39.
In the first quarter, Geneva doubled up the Eagles 18-9 before extending their lead to 40-22 at the half after a 22-13 scoring advantage in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, the Eagles of East Brewton were outscored 24-16 as Geneva extended their lead to 64-38 heading into the fourth quarter.
In the final quarter of play, the Panthers scorched the Eagles with a 15-1 run to seal the win by 40.
Trevor Burns led the Eagles with 12 points in the loss while Tyshawn Davis finished with nine points.
