TRM girls and boys basketball to play in Jackson tournament Thursday and Friday

The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger and varsity Tiger basketball teams will compete in the DeMarquis Besteda 2012 Christmas Tournament at Jackson High School Thursday, Dec. 27 and Friday, Dec. 28.
The Lady Tigers will join three other teams in the tournament while the varsity Tigers will be one of four teams in their part of the tournament.
The Lady Tigers will join Davidson, Vigor and Jackson in the two-day tournament while the varsity Tigers will play with Jackson, Satsuma and Vigor.
The Lady Tigers will begin play in the tournament, Thursday, Dec. 27 at 3 p.m. against Davidson while the varsity Tigers will play later in the day at 7:30 p.m. against the host Jackson Aggies.
In other action Thursday, Satsuma and Vigor’s boys will play at 4:30 p.m. while Vigor and Jackson’s girls will play at 6 p.m.
On Friday, Dec. 28, the losers of the girls games from Thursday will play at 3 p.m. followed by the losers of the boys games from Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. At 6 p.m. Tuesday, girls winners from Thursday will play followed by the Thursday boys winners at 7:30 p.m.
T.R. Miller’s girls will be the visiting team in their game against Davidson Thursday while the boys will be the home team against Jackson.
With a win or loss Thursday, T.R. Miller’s girls will be the home team on Friday while the boys team will be the visiting team in their game on Friday despite a win or a loss on Thursday.
Satsuma, Vigor and Jackson are all 5A schools while Davidson is a 6A school. Following the two games on Thursday and Friday in the Christmas tournament in Jackson, both the Lady Tigers and the varsity Tigers will be back in action Friday, Jan. 4 when they begin area play with a road game at Cottage Hill. Game time is set for 4:30 p.m. in Mobile. The game will be the first of three straight road games for the T.R. Miller teams. The Tigers will return home for a game against Monroe County on Monday, Jan. 14. The game will begin at 4:30 p.m.
The home game will be the first of a four-game home stand for the Tigers before ending the season with two road games at Andalusia and at Hillcrest.
Currently, as of Friday, Dec. 22, the Lady Tigers are 1-7 while the B-team Tigers are 2-2 the varsity Tigers are both 1-4.
