In a home area game Friday night against the Cottage Hill Warriors, all three W.S. Neal basketball teams took a check in the loss column.
The B-team Eagles saw their two-game winning streak end with a 52-41 loss to the Warriors to fall to 2-3 this season.
In girls action Friday night, W.S. Neal took it on the chin with a 41-6 thrashing to remain winless this season and fall to 0-8 overall and to 0-3 in area play.
In varsity action, Cottage Hill dominated the third quarter to pull away with a 58-29 win over the Eagles. W.S. Neal fell to 3-5 overall and to 1-2 in area play.
W.S. Neal was scheduled to host Bayside Academy Tuesday night in East Brewton for another area game.
The two schools will meet up against Friday in Daphne before the Eagles will take to the road Tuesday, Jan. 22, for a road game at Cottage Hill. The game with the Warriors of Cottage Hill will be the final area game of the season for the Eagles of East Brewton.
W.S. Neal will return home on Friday, Jan. 25 when they host Geneva. Tip time is set for 5 p.m. at W.S. Neal.

CH 52, WSN B-team 41
Despite having nine of their 12 players score points Friday night, the W.S. Neal B-team took an 11-point loss to Cottage Hill, 52-41.
Cottage Hill used a 9-0 run in the first quarter to lead W.S. Neal 11-6 after one quarter of play and later used an 8-0 run in the second quarter to outscore the Eagles 14-11 and hold a 25-17 lead at the half.
In the third, Cottage Hill increased their lead by five points as they doubled up the Eagles 10-5 in the quarter to take a 35-22 lead into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, W.S. Neal edged out the Warriors 19-17, but was unable to come away with the win as they lost by 11.
Leading the way for the Eagles was Robin Swift with nine points. Ty Alexander and Treylon Watson both finished with six points each while Antwan Jones added five points.
Quantae Barksdale tallied four points in the loss along with Troy Lewis and Tre Smith while Keaton Yuhasz had two points and Lane Chavers had one.
The Eagles shot 13-for-24 from the free throw line in the loss while Cottage Hill was 13-for-30.

CH 41, WSN Lady Eagles 6
Cottage Hill scored nine points in the first quarter—three more than the Lady Eagles scored all game—to cruise their way to a 35-point rout, 41-6.
Cottage Hill held W.S. Neal scoreless in the first quarter, to two points each in the second and fourth quarters and to four points in the third quarter.
The Lady Warriors started the game on a 13-0 run over the span of the first and second quarters. Cottage Hill led W.S. Neal 9-0 after one quarter and 13-0 with 5:20 in the second before the Lady Eagles scored their only points of the first half at the 4:32 mark.
Cottage Hill ended up outscoring W.S. Neal 8-2 in the second quarter to lead 17-2 at the half.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal was outscored 16-2 as Cottage Hill grabbed a 33-4 lead heading into the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, with a running clock, W.S. Neal was outscored 8-2 as the Lady Warriors took the win 41-6.
Tiana Smith had all six points for the Lady Eagles in the loss. W.S. Neal shot 0-for-4 from the free throw line while Cottage Hill was 8-for-15.

CH 58, WSN varsity Eagles 29
It has often been said that the game of basketball is a game of runs and W.S. Neal’s 58-29 loss to Cottage Hill Friday night proved to be no different.
Trailing by as many as 10 points in the second quarter, 18-8, the W.S. Neal varsity Eagles cut the lead to 20-18 with 3:00 left before the half after Josiah Nettle’s dunk.
With their deficit cut to two points, Cottage Hill went on an 8-0 run to end the half with a 28-18 lead after leading 15-8 after the first quarter.
Cottage Hill increased their run to 21-0 after starting the third quarter on a 13-0 run to grab a 41-18 lead with 4:42 left in the third quarter. W.S. Neal went on to be outscored 20-5 in the quarter and trailed 48-23 heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, the Warriors ended the game on a 10-6 run to get he win by 29 points.
Nettles led with nine points while D.J. Hodges finished with eight. Trevor Burns added six points and Tyshawn Davis had five points. Tavin Ingraham had one point.
W.S. Neal was 4-of-14 from the free throw line while Cottage Hill was 1-for-4.
