Just after 8 p.m. Wednesday, Brewton police and fire personnel responded to a call of a log truck overturned at the main intersection in downtown.

The truck’s trailer overturned and spilled a full load of logs onto the roadway scattering logs across the road and onto the sidewalk and grassy area near the information center marquis at the intersection of St. Nicholas Avenue and Mildred Street.

Officers at the scene say the driver of the truck was not injured in the incident. The cab of the vehicle did not overturn in the mishap.

Brewton police officers, firefighters, rescue workers and City of Brewton employees were working at the scene to clear the debris.

Police are asking drivers to avoid the area until debris can be cleared, hopefully, by 11 p.m.
