In regular season finale, FHS Hurricanes sweep WSN Eagles

All three W.S. Neal Eagle basketball teams were swept in their regular season finale Monday night in Flomaton.

Flomaton 37, WSN B-team 30
The W.S. Neal B-team ended their season with a 37-30 loss at the hands of the Flomaton Hurricanes.
Flomaton took control of the game early as they raced out to a 15-3 lead over the Eagles after one quarter of play. W.S. Neal was able to cut the lead to nine points at the half, 21-12, after outscoring the Hurricanes 9-6 in the second quarter.
In the third quarter, Flomaton doubled up W.S. Neal 12-6 to increase their lead to 33-18 heading into the fourth. In the fourth, the Eagles of East Brewton used a furious rally to cut into the Hurricane lead as they outscored Flomaton 12-4, but took the loss by seven points.
The Eagles shot 7-for-19 from the free throw line in the loss while the Hurricanes were 2-for-8.
Dalton Shell led W.S. Neal with six points while Robin Swift and Antwan Jones had five points each. Quantae Barksdale and Lane Chavers both had four points while TyAnthony Alexander and Troy Lewis had three points each.

Flomaton 51, WSN Lady Eagles 31
In one of the higher scoring games this year for the W.S. Neal Lady Eagles, the Flomaton Lady Hurricanes downed the Lady Eagles by 20 points, 51-31, to keep W.S. Neal winless this season.
Flomaton led W.S. Neal 16-6 after the first quarter of play and 28-10 at the half following a 12-4 advantage in the second quarter. In the third, Flomaton increased their lead to 25 points as they took a 12-5 scoring advantage in the quarter to extend their lead to 40-15 heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth, W.S. Neal ended the game with a 16-11 run, but took the loss by 20 points.
In the loss, the Lady Eagles were 5-for-8 from the free throw line while Flomaton shot 9-for-18.
Leading W.S. Neal in the loss was Glenasia Butler and Tiana Smith with eight points each followed by Khadijah Barton with four points, Mariah Davis with three, Courtney Emmons with two, Ariana Jones with two, Floyd with two and Taylor Burns with two points.

Flomaton 68, WSN varsity Eagles 52
The Flomaton Hurricanes got revenge Monday from an earlier loss to W.S. Neal as they took down the Eagles by 16 points, 68-52.
In a high scoring first quarter, Flomaton held a nine-point lead over W.S. Neal 22-13, heading into the second quarter.
In the second, Flomaton was able to increase their lead to 39-24 at the half after outscoring the Eagles 17-11 in the quarter.
In the third quarter, W.S. Neal cut into the lead by three points as they outscored Flomaton 20-17 in the quarter, but the Hurricanes held a 56-44 lead heading into the fourth.
In the fourth, Flomaton went on to outscore the Eagles 12-8 to help get the win by 16.
The two teams shot a combined 52 free throws in the game with W.S. Neal going 9-for-27 from the line and Flomaton going 12-for-25.
Trevor Burns led W.S. Neal with 15 points and Nettles finished with 12. Tyshawn Davis had eight points and Malcolm Hawthorne had seven. Austin Dixon chipped in five points followed by J.T. Lane with three and Montrel Banks with two points.
