JDCC softball starts year winless after big losses to CACC

The 2013 season got off to a rough start for the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team Tuesday at home as they were swept by Central Alabama Community College to start the season 0-2.
The Lady Warhawks dropped game one by a score of 18-1, in five innings, to the Lady Trojans. In game two, CACC used a big fifth inning to propel them to an 8-0 win in five innings.
JDCC will look to pick up their first win of the season, as they will be back in action Saturday at home when they host SW Mississippi College for a noon and 2 p.m. doubleheader. The Lady Warhawks will take on Pensacola State College on Wednesday, Feb. 13. Game time is set for 2 and 4 p.m. in Brewton.
JDCC will have their first road game Friday, Feb. 15 when they travel to Huntingdon in Montgomery for a 1 and 3 p.m. doubleheader. JDCC will end the month of February with a Beach Classic Tournament at Panama City. The tournament will start Friday, Feb. 22 and will continue on Saturday, Feb. 23 and Sunday, Feb. 24.

CACC 18, JDCC 1
The Lady Trojans of Central Alabama Community College scored early and often Tuesday to cruise their way to an 18-1 win over the Lady Warhawks.
CACC held JDCC to one lone run in the second inning while scoring three of their own runs in the first and the second innings to take an early 6-0 lead.
After JDCC cut the lead to 6-1 in the second, CACC plated five runs in the third inning and three runs in the fourth to take a 14-1 lead. In the fifth, CACC put their final touches on the rout with a grand slam to help them get the 17-run win.
Jessica Swindle got the start for JDCC in the circle and took the loss. Swindle went two innings and allowed two hits, six runs, walked four and struck out none.
Breanna Hall went the final three innings for JDCC and allowed 10 hits, 12 runs, walked two, hit one and struck out three.
At the plate for JDCC, Dymon Coachman and Jennifer Fisher had the only two hits for the Lady Warhawks in the loss. Laura Zeegers scored the lone run.
JDCC made three errors in the loss.

CACC 8, JDCC 0
In game two, CACC scored seven runs in the fifth inning to finish off the sweep of JDCC 8-0 in five innings.
The two teams were scoreless through three innings before the Lady Trojans plated one run in the fourth to take a 1-0 lead. After holding the Lady Warhawks scoreless in the bottom of the inning, CACC scored seven runs on five hits and four JDCC errors to take the 8-0 lead. JDCC failed to score in the bottom half of the inning as CACC took the win.
At the plate, Fisher, Morgan Agerton, Hall and Paige Harwell all had hits for JDCC in the loss.
Rachel Seitz was the losing pitcher for JDCC. Seitz went 4 2/3 innings and allowed nine hits, eight runs, walked one and struck out three.
Elissa Kelly relieved Seitz in the top of the fifth with two outs and struck out the lone batter she faced in her 1/3 of an inning.
JDCC made five errors in the loss with four coming in the seven-run fifth inning. The Lady Warhawks had only one runner reach second base in the loss and only four total runners reach first base.
