Playing as the No. 3 seed in the area tournament Friday night at Bayside Academy and taking on No. 2 seed Cottage Hill, the W.S. Neal varsity boys basketball team saw their season come to an end with a 68-40 loss to the Warriors. With the loss the Eagles finished their season with a 3-13 record.
Cottage Hill took control of the game early and never looked back as they led W.S. Neal 24-2 after one quarter. The second quarter was a little better for the Eagles as they poured in 18 points and outscored Cottage Hill 18-10 to trail 34-20 at halftime.
Any chances for an Eagle comeback were negated in the third quarter as Cottage Hill came out of the break and outscored W.S. Neal 25-9 in the quarter to increase their lead to 59-29 and take a 30-point lead into the final quarter of play.
In the fourth, W.S. Neal ended the game on an 11-9 run, but Cottage Hill earned the win by 28 points.
Josiah Nettles led W.S. Neal with 15 points in the loss.
