JDCC softball splits at Huntingdon

In a doubleheader at Huntingdon College in Montgomery Friday, the Jefferson Davis Community College Lady Warhawk softball team split to see their record go to 2-4 this season.
The Lady Warhawks cruised in game one to a 17-1 win, but faltered in game two as they were edged out 6-5.
JDCC will play in the Beach Classic in Panama City Friday, Saturday and Sunday before returning home on Saturday, March 2 for a doubleheader against Chattahoochee Valley. Game time is set for 1 and 3 p.m. in Brewton.

Game one: JDCC 17, Huntingdon 1
JDCC erupted for eight runs in the first inning and seven in the second to cruise to a 16-run win over Huntingdon in game on Friday.
JDCC added two more runs in the third inning while Huntingdon’s lone run came in the bottom of the first inning.
Jessica Swindle and Rachel Seitz both pitched in the win. Swindle went two innings and allowed one hit, now runs or walks, and struck out three. Seitz went three innings and allowed two hits, one run, none earned, walked one and struck out two.
At the plate, Kayla Watson went 3-for-3 with two RBIs while Morgan Agerton was 3-for-4 with three RBIs.
Jennifer Fisher, Dymon Coachman, Courtney Lowery, Keira Dawsey, Sarah Beth Watksin, Seitz and Breanna Hall all had hits in the win. Fisher, Coachman, Mindy Walker, Lowery, Watkins, Seitz and Hall all had RBIs.

Game two: Huntingdon 6, JDCC 5
In game two, Huntingdon broke a 5-all tie in the bottom of the seventh to defeat JDCC 6-5.
Huntingdon led JDCC 4-0 after one inning before the Lady Warhawks scored one run in the fourth and two in the fifth to cut the lead to 4-3. After Huntingdon took a 5-3 lead heading into the sixth, JDCC rallied with two runs of their own to tie the game in the top of the sixth.
Paige Harwell, Agerton, Fisher, Paige Odom, Coachman, Swindle, Laura Zeegars, Watkins, Seitz and Hall all had hits. Agerton, Odom, Swindle and Watkins had RBIs in the loss.
Hall took the loss on the mound going 6 2/3 innings and allowing four hits, four runs, one earned, walked three and struck out five.
