In just a little more than a week, Brewton area children can round up their bicycles and take part in the city’s first bicycle rodeo event.

And, as an added bonus, two lucky children will have a chance to take home a brand new bicycle at the end of the day.

Co-sponsored by the Brewton Police Department and the City of Brewton, the event is the first of its kind and will feature fun, food and even a lesson in safety.

Brewton police officers will offer instruction in bicycle safety for children between the ages of 6 and 12. Children will also have the opportunity to enjoy various games and even take a tumble in an inflatable bouncy house.

The event will kick off at 10 a.m. and will continue until 2 p.m. at the John L. Fisher Community Center on Liles Boulevard.

A hot dog lunch will be provided and free child identification kits will also be available.

No registration is needed and all activities, including entry into a drawing for one of two bicycles, is free.
