In an effort to curtail illegal activity within the city, the Brewton Police Department’s narcotics division has completed investigations that have resulted in several arrests, officials said.

“During the last week we have made several drug related arrests,” Sgt. Andrew Casey, narcotics officer, said. “We had agents make undercover buys from suspects. Those charged with distribution were a part of that undercover operation.”

Arrested this week were:

Bobby Odom — charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance (hydrocodone); unlawful possession of a controlled substance (hydrocodone).

Jerry Phillips – charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (synthetic cannabinoids); second-degree forgery; false identity to obstruct justice; possession of drug paraphernalia.

Wesley Harris – charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (crack/cocaine).

Lakeshia Kyles – charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Alprasolam).

Jeffery Jay – charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (crack/cocaine); unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Alprazolam).

Johnny Simmons – charged with possession of a controlled substance (crack/cocaine); unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Alprazolam).

Rody Daw – charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance (Clonazepam); Unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Clonazepam).

Faye Emmons – charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance (Clonazepam); and Unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Clonazepam).

Jason Kyles – charged with first-degree possession of marijuana; possession of drug paraphernalia.

“Anyone with information concerning illegal drug activity is encouraged to call us,” Casey said. “We want to continue to encourage citizens to call the department to report any illegal drug activity at any time. The citizens of the city can help us keep the city of Brewton safe. All callers will remain anonymous and could be rewarded for any information that leads to an arrest.”
