D.W. McMillan Hospital will host their fifth annual Relay for Life 5K Run/Walk on Saturday, March 16, at 8 a.m., but it will see a change this year.
“We have gone back to the old route, which is starting at Encore,” coordinator of the race Ruthie Cooper said. “We will then go to Belleville, take a right and proceed to Henderson street between the court house and the park, go through the parking lot behind the courthouse and go to Evergreen Avenue, take Evergreen all the way to the Elementary School, take a left on Underwood back to Belleville, cross over Belleville back to the side walk and proceed back to Encore where the race will end.”
Cooper is coordinating the 5K Run/Walk and said the race is a fun event and the money raised is really needed to fight against cancer and the participants really seem to enjoy this. Past races have seen over 100 runner participate with all seeming to have a good time.
“I would like to get 200 or more participants this year but unfortunately we have only about 60 registrations at this point,” Cooper said.
There will be an overall winner for male and female and then there will be prizes for each age group.
Early registration is currently going on and will go through March 15.
Registration for adults will be $20 while registration for kids ages 8-14 will be $10.
Race day registration will be from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. with adults being $22. Kids ages 8-14 will remain at $10.
Registration forms can be mailed or dropped off at D.W. McMillan Hospital, P.O. Box 908, Brewton, AL, 36427 with attention made to Ruthie Cooper.
For questions, contact Ruthie Cooper at 251-809-8330 or Jenny Gray at 251-867-8085.
