The T.R. Miller Lady Tiger softball team had a rough start to their 2013 season Friday and Saturday in their own TRM Invitational, as they went 1-3 to start the year.
The Lady Tigers lost three games by a combined four points. T.R. Miller started their season and tournament off with a 3-1 loss to Escambia County, but followed that loss up with a 10-2 win over McGill-Toolen.
After splitting on Friday, T.R. Miller went 0-2 on Saturday. The Lady Tigers began the day with a 9-8 loss to Davidson and then were eliminated from tournament play by J.U. Blacksher who took down the Lady Tigers 2-1.
“We had a couple of kids who had a great tournament from an individual standpoint,” Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said. “But as a team I don’t think we played with great effort every game and as a result we won one game and lost three. We didn’t make routine plays on defense when we should have. That cost us in each game we lost. Our pitchers pitched well enough to keep us in the games but we didn’t play solid defense and our bats were inconsistent. Luckily we have over 20 games left in the season to correct these things and I’m positive that we will.”
