After starting the year 1-3, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers picked up two wins this week to climb back to 3-3 this season. The Lady Tigers took down Monroe County 18-3 Tuesday in Monroeville and then clinched their first area win Thursday at home with an 8-0 win over Cottage Hill.

TRM 8, Cottage Hill 0
In their first area game of the season Thursday at home, it was a slow start, but a nice ending for the Lady Tigers as they took down Cottage Hill 8-0.
The Lady Tigers were held scoreless in the first inning before coming alive with one run in the second and third innings, four in the fifth and two in the sixth.
“First of all it was a big area win,” Lady Tiger head coach Greg White said. “We talked about it yesterday, we want to put ourselves to be in the area championship and hopefully host it if at all possible, so this was our first step in doing that. It took us a little while to get going. I don’t know what the deal was, but the second time through the lineup we started hitting the ball a little bit better. We hit it pretty well. We had a couple of base running errors we need to work on and some mental mistakes we need to take care of, but we have time to do that.”
Moriah Brundidge helped the Lady Tigers to the win and she was the winning pitcher in the game. Brundidge allowed no runs, four hits, walked three and struck out nine.
“Moriah pitched very good for us tonight,” White said. “We didn’t make any errors tonight on defense, but Moriah pitched well. She got ahead in the count and had a lot of first-pitch strikes. She has been a pleasant surprise and has worked hard in the off-season. It has showed in the last few games she has pitched. All our pitchers have done well. The games we have lost, there was just some mistakes made, but all three pitchers have pitched well in our games so far. This was a big win and I am glad for it.”
At the plate, Kelsey Thompson led with a single and a triple and one RBI.
Krystal Bell had a single and a double and two RBIs. Brundidge added two singles and Jessica Allan had a single and two RBIs.
Molly Jackson added a single and Laurel Billy and Leslie Holmes had a single each.
