TRM baseball’s pitching keys sweep over Clarke County Friday

The T.R. Miller pitching staff was the key Friday night for the Tiger baseball team at Clarke County.
The Tiger pitchers helped the team to a sweep of the Bulldogs to improve the Tigers to 8-2 this season.
The Tigers outscored Clarke County 11-0 in the two games, winning game one 3-0 and game two 8-0.
While holding the Bulldogs to no runs, the Tiger pitcher surrendered only one hit in the two games.
In game one, Kevin Davis got back to his normal self as he improved to 1-1 this season with a no-hitter and 16 strikeouts. Davis went the complete game and walked one in the win.
“Kevin did a great job on the hill,” T.R. Miller head coach Jim Hart said. “We just have to do a better job of swinging the sticks when he is pitching.”
In game two, younger brother Kyle Davis and Darby Black combined for a one-hitter in the 8-0 win.
Kyle went five innings to get the win and allowed one hit, struck out 10, and walked five.
Black went the final two innings and struck out two and hit one.
“We swung the sticks better in game two,” Hart said. “Kyle pitched very well for five innings. Darby continued to do a good job when he gets on the hill.
In game one, T.R. Miller held Clarke County scoreless and scored two runs of their own in the fifth and one in the sixth to get the 3-0 win.
Jones Manning, Hunter Brittain and Ryan Hunt all had hits and one RBI each. Manning had one stolen base.
In game two, T.R. Miller scored three runs in the first, two in the second and three more in the sixth to get the win by eight.
At the plate, Manning, Kevin Davis, Kyle Davis, Dominique Jackson and Caden Lodge all had a hit each. Tripp Floyd was 2-for-4 and Dominique Jackson was 2-for-2. Floyd had a homerun and Jackson had a triple in the win.
Kyle Davis had one RBI and Floyd had three RBIs.
Manning, Kevin Davis, Jackson and Lodge all stole bases in the win.
