In their third game in two days, the W.S. Neal Eagle JV baseball team cruised to another big win Tuesday at Flomaton as they downed the Hurricanes 22-7. The win improved the Eagles to 9-3-1 this season. W.S. Neal is 3-1 against Flomaton this season one more game left against the Hurricanes on Monday, April 8.
W.S. Neal took down T.R. Miller 9-0 in game one Monday in Brewton and 17-3 in game two. In their three games so far this week, the Eagles have outscored their opponents 48-10.
In the game Tuesday in Flomaton, the Eagles pounded out 22 runs on 15 hits and benefited from nine walks in the game.
At the plate for the Eagles in the big win, Dakota Graves, Rob Jones, Lane Chavers, Malcolm Hawthorne and Miles Powell all had two hits each with Powell having a double.
Colton Morris, Devan Little, Nick Glass, Mike Williams and Brandon Carmichael had one hit each.
Hawthorne led the way with three RBIs while Jones, Williams and Powell had two each and Graves, Jared Cooper, Morris, Justin Sessions, Derrick Barton, and Glass had one RBI each.
Sessions earned the win on the mound for the Eagles and was joined by Jones and Glass.
Sessions went 2 2/3 innings and allowed four runs, two earned, three hits, walked two and struck out three.
Jones went 1 1/3 innings and allowed one hit, one earned run, walked one and struck out two. Glass went the final inning and allowed one hit, two runs, one earned, walked three and struck out two.
After already playing three games this week, the Eagles were set to meet T.R. Miller Thursday at home in a doubleheader. The doubleheader, which is scheduled for 4 and 6 p.m., will make five games for the Eagles this week. Following their busy week of games, the JV Eagles will be off until April 1 when they are scheduled to host Greenville for a 4 p.m. doubleheader. The game was originally scheduled for an away game, but the Eagles traveled to Greenville earlier in the year after W.S. Neal’s field was to wet to play on after rain in the area.
