After suffering two straight area losses to Bayside Saturday, the T.R. Miller Tiger baseball team got back in the win column–barely– after having to hold on to defeat Straughn 8-7 Monday in the 2013 Opp Bobcat Spring Break tournament.
Leading 8-0 after four innings, T.R. Miller gave up seven runs to Straughn in the fifth inning, but held on for the one-run win to improve to 10-4 this season.
T.R. Miller struck for five runs of their own in the first inning and added one in the second and two in the fourth to take the big lead early.
Tripp Floyd earned the win on the mound for the Tigers while Ryan Hunt earned the save. Floyd went 4 1/3 innings and allowed five hits, five runs, walked and struck out six. Hunt went the final 2 2/3 innings and allowed three hits, two runs, walked and struck out one and hit one batter.
At the plate, Jones Manning, Kyle Davis and Jacob Fillmore all had singles. Floyd had two singles and Kevin Davis led with a double and one homerun. Hunter Brittain had two singles. Kevin Davis led with two RBIs while Kyle Davis and Fillmore had one RBI each.
