WSN baseball still undefeated at 15-0 after two wins in Opp tourney

Playing in a spring break tournament Monday and Tuesday that felt more like a winter break, the W.S. Neal Eagle baseball claimed two wins in their first two games.
W.S. Neal opened the tournament Monday with a 15-1 win over Kinston and claimed a 6-0 win over Opp Tuesday in the tournament. The wins improved W.S. Neal to 15-0 this season.
W.S. Neal was to play Brewbaker later in the day Tuesday. See Saturday’s sports section for a complete recap from that game.

WSN 15, Kinston 1
Scoreless through the first two innings, W.S. Neal scored nine runs in the third and six in the sixth inning and held Kinston to one run in the fourth to get a 14-run win Monday in Opp.
Tyler Joyner earned the win on the mound going six innings and allowed five hits, one run, walked one, hit one and struck out eight.
At the plate, W.S. Neal pounded out 15 hits. Christian Purvis had two singles and Jared Salter had one single along with Jeremy Myers and Damion Williams. Brian Settle had a double and Dylan Godwin had a single. Mike Williams, Joyner, Brandon Carmichael and Keith Bradley all had singles while Miles Powell had a double and a single and Cam Blackman had two singles.

WSN 6, Opp 0
Facing off against the host Bobcats Tuesday morning, W.S. Neal came away with a 6-0 shutout win. The win was W.S. Neal’s fifth shutout this season.
Blackman earned the win on the mound going 5 1/3 innings and allowed four hits, four walks and struck out seven. Bradley went the final 1 2/3 innings and allowed four hits.
At the plate, Purvis had two hits, Myers, Joyner and Bradley all had a hit each and Settle had three hits. Purvis and Damion Williams both had one RBI each.
