The Brewton Council of the Arts will end the 2012-2013 season with its last performance of the year on Sunday, April 7.
The Auburn Singers will be making their way to Brewton to perform a community concert beginning at 3 p.m. in the Woodfin-Patterson Auditorium on the campus of Jefferson Davis Community College.
The Auburn Singers — a group of 36 vocalists and 10 instrumentalists — fought for their positions with the group through auditions at the college. The group is under the direction of Dr. Dale Farmer and are celebrating their 38th anniversary this year.
The Auburn Singers have obtained a reputation for their energetic performances worldwide. Since its formation in 1972, the song dance and band group are comprised of students and have been in constant demand. They have performed for television specials, conventions, community concerts and various campus events.
“The Escambia County Auburn Alumni will have a table set up for anyone who would like to join,” said Clay Lisenby, president of the arts council. “Some of our members have seen this group  and think that the program will be entertaining for all ages. It won’t be just singing. They dance and are very energetic. We want to invite the Auburn fans to come out and enjoy the performance. We also invite the Alabama fans to come out and enjoy the afternoon. The program will last from 3 to 4;30 p.m. so everyone will have plenty of time to get to church.”
The performance on Sunday is sponsored by the Brewton Council of the Arts. Tickets will be available at the door and will be $10 for adults and $5 for students.
