In their area tournament games Tuesday in East Brewton, the T.R. Miller Lady Tigers went 1-1.
T.R. Miller opened the tournament with a 9-2 loss to Cottage Hill to fall into the loser’s bracket. T.R. Miller surrendered eight runs in the sixth inning to the Lady Warriors as Cottage Hill turned a 1-1 tie into a 9-1 lead.
In their loser’s bracket game, T.R. Miller faced off against Bayside Academy and came away with a 9-5 to improve to 13-12 overall this year. The win over Bayside Academy eliminated the Lady Admirals from the area tournament.
T.R. Miller will be back in action Thursday in the tournament at W.S. Neal at 4 p.m. The Lady Tigers will take on the loser of W.S. Neal and Cottage Hill, who play at 2 p.m. in the winner’s bracket.
The Lady Tigers need to win their 4 p.m. game Thursday to advance to the area title game. T.R. Miller would have to win two games in the title game to claim the area championship. Also with a win in their 4 p.m. game Thursday, T.R. Miller would clinch a spot in the south regional in Gulf Shores.
The area champion and runner-up both advance to the regionals.
As of Tuesday’s first day of the area tournament, W.S. Neal and Cottage Hill were both 1-0 and were to meet at 2 p.m. Thursday. T.R. Miller is 1-1 and Bayside went 0-2 and was eliminated.
