Mildred Cook Green

Mrs. Mildred Cook Green, 88, of Ashton Street, died Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at her residence after a brief illness. She was a native and life long resident of Escambia County, in the Damascus community. She was of the Baptist faith, a graduate of Damascus High School, a graduate of Auburn University, and a retired high school teacher from W.S. Neal High with 30 years of service.
She is survived by two daughters, Anne (Nick) Yuhasz of Brewton, and Gwynne (Joey) Shell of East Brewton; a sister Sylvia Koon of Brewton; five grandchildren, Lee (Lisa) Hall, Hilary (Reo) Kirkland, and Keaton Yuhasz, all of Brewton, and William Shell, and Dalton Shell of East Brewton; two great-grandchildren, Ryan Hendrick and Megan Hall; one niece, Ellen Dunson; a special friend, Charlotte Wiggins, and special caregivers, Christie Shell and Pam Watson.
Funeral services were held Friday, May 3, at 3 p.m. at Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Jack Fitts officiating. Burial followed in Damascus Cemetery, with Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.
