Through 18 games of the 2013 Brewton Babe Ruth season, the Texas A&M Aggies have been cruising through opponents with a 16-2 record. The only two losses coming by the Auburn Tigers in week four. Thursday night in Brewton, the Auburn Tigers handed the Aggies their third and fourth losses of the season as they swept Texas A&M to end the Aggies’ 10-game winning streak. Auburn won game one 12-5 and claimed game two by a score of 9-8.
In East Brewton, the Tennessee Volunteers ended their nine-game losing streak with a win over the Kentucky Wildcats in game one, but took a loss in game two. In game one, Tennessee won 9-7 in 10 innings before being handed an 18-4 loss in game two.
After Thursday’s game, Texas A&M remained in first place and has all but captured the league championship as they have a 16-4 record with four games left to be played.
Auburn improved to 10-10 overall as staked their claim for second place while Tennessee saw their record go to 8-12 and they remained in third place. Kentucky went to 6-14 and rounded out the four-team league.
The season enters their final week of play Tuesday and Thursday as Texas A&M and Kentucky will play at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in Brewton while Auburn and Tennessee will meet in East Brewton.

Auburn Tigers 12-9, Texas A&M 5-8
Runs scored in the seventh inning for the Auburn Tigers in games one and two Thursday night against league-leading Texas A&M propelled the Tigers to a sweep of the Aggies.
In game one, with the game tied at 3-all in the top of the seventh, Auburn scored nine runs in their half of the inning and held the Aggies to two runs in their half of the seventh to claim a 12-5 win.
Tim McDonald helped Auburn to the win on the mound as he went the complete game to earn the win. McDonald allowed seven hits, five runs, walked five, struck out seven and hit one.
At the plate, Malcolm Hawthorne had two singles and Lane Clark had one RBI. Stokes Jennings had two singles and two RBIs while McDonald added two singles and one RBI.
Derrick Barton had a single while Brooks Brown and Baylen Parker had a double each. Parker had two RBIs in the win.
Tripp Floyd, Austin Holmes and Drew Williamson all pitched for the Aggies with Holmes taking the loss as he went 1 1/3 innings in relief of Floyd. The trio of pitchers allowed nine hits, 12 runs, walked five and hit two batters. Floyd had all 11 strikeouts in five innings of work.
At the plate in the loss in game one, Jake Najor had a double and a single and one RBI while Floyd had two singles and one RBI. Lane Chavers added a single and Holmes had one RBI. River Johnson added a triple and a single.
In game two, Auburn took an 8-2 lead into the top of the seventh, but surrendered six runs in the inning to see the Aggies tie the game up at 8-all heading to the bottom of the inning.
From there, Derrick Barton singled in Stokes Jennings from third to give Auburn a 9-8 win and the sweep.
For Auburn in the win, Lane Clark, Stokes Jennings, Weston Riddle and Brooks Brown all pitched in the win with Brown being the pitcher of record. The quartet of pitchers allowed nine hits, eight runs, walked six and struck out three.
At the plate, Hawthorne had a triple and one RBI and Clark had a single and one RBI. Jennings added a double and McDonald finished with a double and a triple and three RBIs.
Barton finished with two singles and the game-winning RBI.
For Texas A&M, Lane Chavers and Holmes pitched in the loss with Holmes being the pitcher of record. Chavers went six innings and allowed five hits, eight runs, walked one, struck out and hit four batters. Holmes went 1/3 of an inning and allowed two hits, one run and walked one.
At the plate for the Aggies, Williamson had two singles and Floyd, Chavers and Holmes all had singles. Chavers and Holmes had one RBI each. Johnson continued his hot streak at the plate as he finished with three singles. O’Neil White had a two-run double in the seventh inning.

Tennessee 9-4, Kentucky 7-18
In East Brewton Thursday night, the Tennessee Volunteers and the Kentucky Wildcats split.
In game one, the two teams battled to a 6-all tie after seven innings before the Volunteers pulled away in the 10th frame with two innings to get a 9-7 win.
Jo Jo Booker, Joshua Winton, Hunter Brittain, Russell Smith, Caleb Winton and Christopher Gehman all had hits. Gehman had a double while Brittain was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Smith had three RBIs, Caleb Winton had two RBIs and Gehman had one.
For Kentucky, Jared Cooper was 4-for-4 with a double while Dakota Graves, Brandon Moye and Bryce Booker all had hits. Sam Frazier, Moye, Hunter Revel and Matt Brown all had one RBI each.
Caleb Winton, Brittain, Booker and Joshua Winton all pitched in the win while Colton Morris, Moye and Graves pitched in the loss for Kentucky.
In game two, Kentucky scored four runs each in the first three innings and three runs each in the fourth and fifth innings to take an 18-4 win.
Graves, Morris, Frazier, Connor Huskey, Hayden Atkinson, Booker and Hutchins all had hits in the win for Kentucky. Frazier had a double and a triple in the win and four RBIs.
Graves, Morris, Cooper, P.J. Lovelace and Hutchins also had RBIs. Morris had four and Hutchins had three.
For Tennessee, Smith, Caleb Winton and Gehman all had hits. Smith and Caleb Winton had one RBI each.
Huskey and Booker pitched in the win for Kentucky while Joshua Winton, Smith, Booker and Tyler Baxter all pitched for Tennessee.
