Brewton’s Advanced Babe Ruth team splits in opener

In their first games of the 2013 Advanced Babe Ruth season Thursday night at LBW in Andalusia, Brewton split with Covington County to start their season 1-1.
Brewton won game one 8-6 and lost game two 9-7.
Tyler Joyner and Tyler Peebles had multiple hits in the first game with Joyner pitching two innings giving up no runs followed by Rob Jones, Caleb Dickey, and Peebles pitching one inning each and each giving up 2 runs.
Dickey and Brandon Carmichael each had a double in the second game. Darby Black pitched two innings giving up six runs and striking out three, while none of the runs were earned. Ryan Hunt pitched two innings walking five and giving up three runs.
Brewton played this weekend at Tate High School. Stats and information from those games were not known as of press time.
Brewton is tentatively scheduled to play in the Covington County tournament June 14-15. Brewton will host Covington County Tuesday, June 18 at T.R. Miller High School. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
