The Escambia County Children’s Policy Council is hosting its inaugural Family Fun Run/Walk Saturday in Atmore.
Registration for the 1.5-mile event will start at 8:30 a.m. with the run/walk starting at 9 a.m. in front of the Atmore Fire Station on Pensacola Avenue. There is no fee to enter, but a donation from participants 18 years old and up is appreciated, said coordinator Karean Reynolds.
“The objective of the Children’s Policy Council is the well being of children, so it seemed only right to open up for free to kids,” he said. “It’s not just a run, it’s also a walk.”
Funds will go toward the CPC, he said.
“All funds will go to the Children’s Policy Council to fund youth programs within the community,” Reynolds said.
The event will start and end at the fire station, and while the course hasn’t been marked off yet, Reynolds said participants will run or walk through parts of the nearby community.
He said prizes would be given out for first and second place.
