Brewton 4,
Birmingham Starz 4
In their first game of the tournament, Brewton tied the Birmingham Starz 4-4.
Caden Lodge started on the hill for Brewton and went five innings giving up four runs. Lodge was relieved by Taylor Fought (a recent JDCC signee) who held the visitors in check the rest of the way.
Down 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Brewton’s Mike Williams was hit by a pitch, and after Tyler Peebles and Caleb Dickey both singled, Darby Black laced a double in the left center field gap for a two-run double to tie the score. Black was stranded at second to end the sixth inning as neither team could score in the seventh inning and the time limit ran out.

Peebles started on the mound for the Dawgs and went 4 1/3 innings giving up only two runs before being relieved by Ryan Hunt. The Dawgs jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the first inning after singles from Lodge, Peebles, Dickey and Black, and aided by a Bombers error.
Brewton would take a 5-1 lead after five innings only to see the Bombers take the lead in the sixth inning on four Dawgs errors pushing their lead to 7-5. Brewton was unable to score in the seventh inning and took the loss by two.
Peebles and Dickey each had two hits in the game.
