EB 8U falls at state tournament

In their 8U state tournament games in Opp, the East Brewton all-stars went 0-3 in their three games.
East Brewton lost to Talladega Saturday 18-13 and on Sunday lost to Butler 10-9.
In their second game Sunday, East Brewton lost to Westside 15-1.
No stats or information from tournament games were known as of press time.
East Brewton’s 8U Cal Ripken all-star baseball team was joined by 17 other teams from across the state.
Joining East Brewton in the state tournament was Andalusia, Alex City, Matthews Park, Monrovia, Westside, Butler, Talladega, Opp, Attalla, Childersburg, Demopolis, Lineville, Florence, Atmore, Sylacauga and Coosa.
The tournament started out in pool play with teams competing for a top seed in each pool.
The top two seeds from each pool advance to the single elimination tournament round Monday afternoon and Tuesday.
The championship game was slated for Tuesday.
In pool play, Andalusia, Alex City, Matthews Park and Monrovia were in the north pool while Westside, Butler, East Brewton and Talladega were all in the south pool.
In the east pool was Opp, Attalla, Childersburg, Demopolis and Lineville.
In the west pool was Florence, Atmore, Sylacauga and Coosa.
East Brewton finished in third place at their district tournament because of its loss to Opp.
East Brewton played in the state tournament because the Bobcats were the district host.
Also joining East Brewton and Opp from the district at the state tournament was Andalusia.
Making the East Brewton 8U baseball all-star team for the 2013 season was: Jakson Newton, Wyatt Kent, Nathan Engle, Rey Salazar, Caleb Peters, Collin Nelson, Blake McNew, Dakota Rose, Gavin Rose, Cameron Watson, Easton Grace.
