The Brewton Area YMCA and the BLAST Tigershark Swim Team hosted the 2013 Gulf Coast Area Aquatic League (GCAAL) Junior Championship Swim Meet Saturday, July 13.
Teams from all over south Alabama including, Foley, Fairhope, Daphne, Bay Minette, and Gulf Shores/Orange Beach joined Brewton in attendance at the meet.
There were 148 swimmers representing their various teams at this championship swim meet.
Tigersharks swim coach Angel Boyd said the meet was a huge success.
“Not only was the meet a success with the great swims turned in by our Tigersharks, but also, it showcased our facility, our parent support and our ability to host such a tremendous event,” Boyd said.
Tigersharks in attendance at the event were: Mac Baxter, Payton Baxter, Kinsley Byrd, Jocelyn Carpenter, Elizabeth Glass, Addison Heath, Anderson Heath, Emerson Heath, Cole Jernigan, John Robert Jernigan, Callie Kent, Caleb Kent, Kayleigh Kulicka, Aleigh Lanier, Colby Morris, Patrick Noble, Kaden Peters, Tiffany Reiss, Riley Surles, Walker Volonte, Kylee Walton and Harrison Walton.
“Every Tigershark won events, medaled or ribboned in everything they swam,” Boyd said. “As the second smallest team, by number of swimmers entered, we took second place overall, just behind the Fairhope Area Swim Team (FAST), and just ahead of the second largest team from Bay Minette.”
The Tigersharks will be swimming at the Summer League GCAAL End of Summer Championships, held in Fairhope, Friday and Saturday July 26-27.
