The Brewton Local Area Swim Team Tigersharks recently traveled to Pensacola to compete in the Greater Pensacola Aquatic Club (GPAC) Longcourse Summer Finale Invitational at the University of West Florida and had seven local swimmers compete in the meet.
Tigersharks in attendance at the meet were: Mac Baxter, son of Chris and Angel Baxter; Colby Morris, son of Brandee Chase Morris; Elizabeth Glass, daughter of Dewayne and Brooke Glass, Cole Jernigan, son of Lee and Felicia Jernigan; Aleigh Lanier, daughter of David and Mandy Lanier; Tiffany Reiss, daughter of Greg Reiss and Rita Reiss; and Walker Volonte, son of Roberto Volonte and Cristina Fusi Volonte.
“Our Tigersharks rocked the blocks in Pensacola, racking up several more cuts for the Southeastern Long Course Championship meet in Nashville (that was held this past week—July 18-21).
Boyd said all her swimmers had a great meet in Pensacola.
“Mac Baxter had a banner meet, dropping time in several events and most importantly receiving a very deep cut in the 400-freestyle to raise his ranking going into the Southeastern Championship meet in Nashville. Mac also had a stellar performance in all of his events, placing third overall in High Point for the 10U boys at this meet. Cole Jernigan also had a great meet dropping major time and cutting three more events to his resume for Southeasterns in Nashville. Cole’s most outstanding swim at this meet was the 50-backstroke, where he won his race and deep cut a Southeastern Qualifying time. Elizabeth Glass also stepped up her game in Pensacola, dropping major time in almost every event she swam, and deepening her Southeastern Qualifying time in the 100 and 50-meter freestyle events.”
Colby Morris won High point at the GPAC Summer Finale meet.
“Colby Morris also had a good meet swimming right on target to maintain his cuts for the Southeastern Championships in Nashville,” Boyd said. “Aleigh Lanier and Tiffany Reiss both had stellar performances in Pensacola as well, swimming some of their best times of the season. Walker Volonte, also had a great meet in Pensacola as well.
“The BLAST Tigersharks are so blessed to have wonderful parents and fans who support our team. We are excited to see what our Tigersharks do next.”
