Brewton police officers talk with Rodrick after her arrest on DUI and other charges.

A Brewton woman has been arrested and faces several charges including endangering the welfare of a child.
Crystal Nicole Rodrick was arrested around 2 p.m. Thursday after Brewton police received a call in reference to an intoxicated driver.
Brewton Police Sgt. Andrew Casey said Rodrick did not immediately pull over when signaled by police patrol.
“We received a call in reference to an intoxicated female driving a white Ford pick-up truck with a small infant in the passenger seat,” Casey said. “Officers located the truck near St. Nicholas Avenue and attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver of the truck made an apparent attempt to elude officers at slow speeds.”
Casey said officers were finally able to stop the vehicle on St. Nicholas Avenue near TrustMark Bank.
“Once the vehicle was stopped, officers located a small infant child in the front passenger seat of Rodrick’s truck,” Casey said. “Officers also determined that Rodrick was heavily intoxicated and they placed her under arrest for driving under the influence.”
Casey said officers also discovered Rodrick to be in possession of several pills identified as a controlled substance.
Rodrick was charged with driving under the influence; endangering the welfare of a child; attempting to elude; and two counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance.
In an unrelated investigation, Casey said several other Brewton residents have been arrested on a variety of drug charges and two other individuals are being sought.
Information obtained during undercover investigations this month has eight men facing charges, Casey said.
