Monthly plans for ‘Brewton Reborn’ set

The organizers behind Brewton Reborn have some ways to cool off during the dog days of August.
The new month’s three tasks focus on some of our best Southern traditions: look up when you are walking; greet people; and sit on your porch.
In fact, said Brewton Reborn organizer and city program director Connie Baggett, there may be rewards for participating this month.
“We’ll have a Lemonade Brigade,” she said, for which she is seeking volunteers.
The “Lemonade Brigade” will deliver lemonade and prizes to random residents they find socializing on the porch in August.
Prizes will also be available for the Top of the Town Award, which ties to the second task, greeting people. Residents can nominate their fellow community members for the award.
For the first task, the city will organize walking “crews” so that residents can meet people with similar interests or walking habits.
